Imagine my disappointment, upon opening it so it can enhance my viewing of the perseid meteor shower, which I am camping for, right now, this very evening and none of the previously available features are available to me unless I pony up MORE money for a subscription service. I am really upset. Farewell, Star Walk. You were a beautifully designed and useful app once. You enhanced my love for the stars. I guess my wallet is just not large enough to follow you down that subscription rabbit hole.

This app should teach and thrill anyone from rank amateurs like me to advanced astronomy students. It literally takes you out of this world into the universe, regardless of your local time and place. Orient the app by waving your phone a few times in figure-8 motion to find your true horizon on the screen.
In the northern hemisphere, turn the app due south and allow satellite view to see and identify what we humans have put up there, for better or worse. From due south, move straight up to the ecliptic to see the constellations and planets currently overhead. Tap a planet, nebula, constellation, etc.
